Unexpected Move by Galatasaray: Promise David
The Istanbul giant, in addition to Victor Osimhen and Jonathan David, has begun negotiations for Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise’s 23 -year-old Canadian forward Promise David.
On the eve of the new season, Galatasaray aims to strengthen its attacking line with a high-profile centre-forward, and for that reason the club’s board has taken a surprise step by adding Promise David’s name to its list of priority targets.
Awaiting developments regarding Victor Osimhen and already in dialogue with soon-to-be free agent Jonathan David, the Yellow-Reds have now included Belgium-based Promise David among their options.
Okan Buruk Views Promise David Favorably
According to Turkish newspaper “Takvim”, Galatasaray officials have already started calculating the potential cost of the deal and have made initial contact with the Canadian marksman’s agent. The report states that head coach Okan Buruk is also highly enthusiastic about bringing David in and has approved the prospective transfer.
Market Value — €11 Million
Tracked by Europe’s elite clubs, the striker possesses imposing physical attributes: standing 1.95 m tall, he causes serious problems for opposition centre-backs in aerial and physical duels. His current market valuation is around €11 million.
Last season with Union Saint-Gilloise, Promise David produced an impressive return of 41 appearances, 24 goals and 5 assists. That amounts to a total of 29 goal contributions, underlining his effectiveness both as a finisher and as a provider for team-mates.
Having earned two caps and scored twice for the Canadian national team, David is under contract with the Belgian club until 2029. It is worth recalling that in 2024 Union Saint-Gilloise paid Estonian side Kalju just €600,000 for his transfer — and can now expect a significant profit.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray continues to analyze the financial side of a possible agreement: in addition to the transfer fee, the club is taking into account the player’s salary demands and the agent’s commission. The Istanbul side plans to act swiftly, as the powerful Canadian forward is being monitored not only by Turkey’s top clubs but also by numerous leading sides from Europe’s top five leagues, ready to intervene at any moment.
If the deal goes through, Promise David’s robust frame and ability to play with his back to goal could make him the ideal target man in Okan Buruk’s system, creating space for technically gifted colleagues and providing Galatasaray with another means of breaking down packed defences. As a result, the transfer could add variety to the attack and increase internal competition — crucial for a season in which the club is once again aiming for the championship and success on the European stage.
