In the opening game of the Turkish Basketball Super League Finals, Fenerbahçe Beko confidently defeated Beşiktaş Fibabanka 94 : 76 on their home court at Ülker Spor ve Etkinlik Salonu, taking a 1–0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
According to the regulations, the championship title will go to the first team to reach four victories. Thus, Fenerbahçe Beko made a bold statement right from the start. The second game will be played at the same venue—Ülker Spor ve Etkinlik Salonu—on Thursday, 19 June.
Match Progress
The visitors began more actively, making smart use of the paint under Fenerbahçe’s basket. The hosts earned their first points from the free-throw line and moved ahead 13 : 12 in the 5th minute. Thanks to Erick McCollum’s scoring burst, the Yellow-Navy extended the cushion to six (18 : 12) by the 6th minute. Controlling the paint with authority and dictating a high tempo, Fener won the opening quarter 22 : 16.
In the second period Fenerbahçe Beko fully seized control of the game. Ken Birch became the main protagonist, stringing together points that pushed the gap into double digits—34 : 23—at the 16-minute mark. Beşiktaş quickly trimmed the deficit to five, but the quarter’s finish belonged to the hosts, who, with suffocating perimeter defense and efficient scoring in the lane, headed to the locker room up 50 : 34.
The third quarter unfolded as a trade of baskets, yet the Black-Whites never managed to chip away at the margin. Fenerbahçe Beko preserved a solid advantage and entered the final stretch leading 73 : 52.
The last ten minutes became a mere formality: playing freely, the Yellow-Navy coasted to a 94 : 76 victory that sent the packed stands into raptures.
Ejection of Beşiktaş Head Coach
With 6 minutes 35 seconds remaining in the third quarter, a disagreement with the referees over a timeout led to Beşiktaş Fibabanka head coach Dušan Alimpijević receiving his second technical foul and being ejected.
