The football club Konyaspor made a principled choice in favour of continuity and confidence by officially confirming that it will maintain its cooperation with head coach Recep Ucar. The decision was formalised at the club’s scheduled general assembly, after which the new leadership chaired by Omer Atiker immediately assumed its duties.
According to Konyaspor press officer Cengiz Yonet, the first meeting of the board of directors took place right after the vote, and the fate of the coaching staff topped the agenda.
“Even during the assembly our president emphasised that stability remains the foremost principle for Konyaspor,” Yonet noted. “We already had a valid contract with the respected coach Recep Ucar, and after thoroughly analysing the past season and future prospects we unanimously voted to continue working together. We wish our community and the coach great success.”
Everyone’s Support Is Needed
The forty-eight-year-old specialist, who took charge of the Green-and-Whites in November 2024, thanked the board of directors for their trust and stressed that the parties quickly reached common ground.
“Formally our contract was still in force, but it was vital for us to be sure that our long-term goals, ambitions and methods coincide,” Ucar explained. “We put every detail on the table and made a joint decision to continue the project. I am sure this new phase will be auspicious for the city of Konya and our large fan base. Last season we reached the semi-finals of the Turkish Cup and secured a safe league position early. Now we aim to raise the bar, set higher league targets and give the supporters even brighter, more dynamic football.”
The coach particularly stressed that the implementation of such ambitious plans requires the unconditional support of everyone—from officials to every spectator in the stands. Thanking those who already contribute to the club’s development, he called for increased attendance at home matches to create an atmosphere in which the players can fully unlock their potential.
Figures From the Last Campaign
During the relatively short period under Ucar’s guidance, Konyaspor played 33 official matches, recording 15 wins, six draws and 12 defeats. The total of 46 points allowed the team to finish 11th in the 2024/25 season, while reaching the semi-finals of the national cup became one of the club’s most notable achievements in recent years.
Looking Ahead
Preserving the established playing model and managerial hierarchy, the management is convinced that stability is an indispensable prerequisite for the next stage of sporting growth. Ucar summed up the plans for the coming season with a concise formula: “Diligence, discipline and self-belief.” He reminded everyone that the road toward lofty goals “is not always smooth,” but assured that the team is ready to walk it together with the fans “from the first to the last minute of the long marathon,” surpass last year’s cup result and secure a place higher up the table.
Thus Konyaspor enters the new season with clearly defined benchmarks and a firm intention to build the future on the fundamental values already laid down: unity, consistency and universal support.
